 The Great Terrible Mother is a personification of the primordial energy that gives and takes life indiscriminately; she embodies the womb and the tomb. Her enigmatic supremacy and power arises form the fact that she cast no judgment only benevolent action. Creation and destruction is only an illusion of perspective. All action is transformation.

 

 

Is space a bridge? According to physicists, space exists between particles even at the subatomic level. If space is a connecting factor then what constitutes connectivity? Is it proximity, physical contact, association, or attraction? Is connectivity relative to our perception.  How is our perception shaped by our position in space-time? What is it that leads the human mind to seeing integration or disintegration between the objects and subjects observed? In this installation I am exploring the concept of space as a bridge in both a physical and metaphorical sense.

 

Within this multi-media installation, I have incorporated tree branches, digital prints on transparency, cheesecloth, fiber string, fishing line, and looping sound.  Heart beats, breathing, and organic sounds were composed by Theodore Holdt to accompany the visual experience.
